NORMAL RETURNS (New Merchandise)
A normal return is an item returned in new condition. An item in new condition is defined as unopened, uninstalled, and in its original form or packaging.
Requirements and Procedures for Credit:
- Timeframe: You may return eligible items within 90 days from the date of purchase, as shown on your receipt.
- Refund Method: Refunds will typically be issued against the original payment method, some exceptions may apply.
- Condition: Items must be unused, in their original packaging, and in the same condition as when purchased, unless the item is defective or was damaged upon receipt. Must include all original materials supplied with the product.
- Proof of Purchase: A valid receipt or proof of purchase is required for all returns.
- Where to return: Best practice is to return at the original location of purchase. However, returns are accepted at all Dust & Son Auto Supplies locations, regardless of purchase location.
- Exclusions: Special order items, custom-cut products (e.g., hoses, wiring), and final sale/clearance items are non-returnable unless defective. Contact a store associate for details at the time of purchase.

- Gift Card Sales: All gift card sales are final and non-refundable.
CORE RETURNS
A core refers to a used, rebuildable component of a vehicle that is returned to the manufacturer or supplier after a new replacement part is purchased. The term "core" comes from the idea that it's the essential, reusable "core" of a part that can be remanufactured back to specifications. Most remanufactured parts come with a core charge or core deposit when the part is sold that will be refunded when the customer returns the old core part. Typical core parts include batteries, alternators, starters, brake calipers, etc.
Requirements and Procedures for Credit:
- Timeframe: We encourage our customers to return any cores as quickly as the old, defective core part is ready. Credit will not be issued until the core part has been received and inspected.
- Condition:
- Core must be returned in the new part's original packaging.
- Core must be drained of any fluid.
- Core must be in rebuildable condition.
- Inspection: Any core received in "non-refundable" condition will be scrapped, without credit issued.
- Refund: Core charge refunded to the original payment method within 5 - 7 business days of approval.
- Proof of Purchase: A valid receipt or proof of purchase is required for all returns.
DEFECT RETURNS
A defect, or defective item, is any item that fails to function as intended due to a manufacturing flaw, damage to item, expiration of product, etc. Defects are an immediate issue where something is wrong with the item right out of the box or soon after use or installation.
Requirements and Procedures for Credit:
- Timeframe: Defects must be returned within 90 days from the date of purchase, as shown on your receipt.
- Damaged Merchandise: Customer must notify a Dust & Son representative of any damaged product immediately upon receipt. Failure to report promptly may result in denial of credit.
- Exclusions: Defects caused by misuse, improper installation, or normal wear and tear will not be credited.
- Refund or Exchange: Upon verification of the defect, customer can choose between a replacement (if available) or a refund, normally against the original payment method.
- Proof of Purchase: A valid receipt or proof of purchase is required for all returns.
WARRANTY RETURNS
A warranty return involves an item that fails to perform as expected under normal use within a specified warranty period, as set by the manufacturer or Dust & Son Auto Supplies. It applies when a part or product, initially functional after installation or use, later malfunctions due to material or workmanship issues, qualifying for repair, replacement, or refund under warranty terms.
Requirements and Procedures for Credit:
- Manufacturer Warranties: Dust & Son Auto Supplies adheres to all manufacturer's warranty terms and conditions.
- Commercial Vehicles: Any product which is used or installed on a commercial vehicle shall have a warranty period of 90 days after the date of product purchase.
- Exclusions: Items must have been used normally and failed due to defects in materials or workmanship, not misuse, improper installation, or normal wear and tear.
- Documentation: All documentation required per manufacturer's warranty terms and conditions.
